Michelle Crawley is the founder of MaxIndependence and the principle therapist.

Professional Qualification: Michelle attended Oxford Brookes University and qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1999.

Employment History

Michelle has worked predominantly in Physical Health, with people of various ages from young adults to the elderly, in the following fields: 

• Neurology
• Orthopaedics
• Rheumatology
• Pain Management

As a member of College of Occupational Therapist Specialist Section in both Independent Practice and Neurological Practice she specializes in adult Neurologial Rehabilitation. She has worked with clients with various clinical conditions including:

• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI),
• Stroke (CVA),
• Multiple Sclerosis (MS),
• Motor Neurone Disease (MND),
• Parkinsons Disease (PD). 

 

Michelle is passionate about enabling her clients to maintain their independence, as far as possible, using both rehabilitative and adaptive/compensatory approaches.

She also has a keen interest in animal assisted intervention/therapy (AAI/AAT) as a mode to facilitate improvements in impairments and quality of life.

Michelle is committed to maintaining her continual professional development, with regular attendance on courses, seminars and conferences, to ensure that her intervention is evidence based.

She also volunteers for groups including Headway and The Cinnamon Trust.
